Anita was born and raised in Ft. Payne, Alabama with her mother and grandmother, who were both heavy tea drinkers. Be it hot or cold tea, it didn’t matter, this served as an opportunity for the women to sit around and share the goings-on of their day. Little did Anita realize the impact this would have on her life in the following years.

Originally selling antiques out of her home, Anita Helton and her husband, George, donned the name Yesterday’s Treasures in 2005. During this time, Anita started sharing with her grandchildren an age old family tradition, tea. Watching the joy it brought to her grandchildren, Conner, Rayne and Ava, the wave of nostalgia prompted Anita to set her sights on opening a Tea Room.

Anita, along with her youngest daughter Becky, embarked on their journey to learn the tea trade. With the help of Lady Dawnya Sasse – the director of Start a Tea Business, they began the courses to learn the various blends, types and processes used to create teas. After 2500 books and 2 years later, they became certified in the trade.

With the growing expansion of Yesterday’s Treasures and the Tea Room looming on the horizon, Anita moved her quaint business to Historic Main Street.  She opened her doors on February 29, 2008 and became a member of the Crestview Chamber of Commerce on March 3, 2008. 6 months later, the Tea Room became a reality. Since the inception, Anita has had the pleasure of introducing other vendors such as Cagle Creations, Ellenay Designs, and Antiques by Dana  just to name a few.

With Becky Arnold, her youngest daughter as the Tea Room manager, Misty, the oldest daughter, Allen the only son, at any given time working in the store and frequent visits from the grandchildren, this is truly a family opened and operated business. Yesterday’s Treasures, Antiques and Tea Room, provides the old-tyme atmosphere where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. Stop in, peruse the antiques and take pleasure in a pot of tea as only they can provide.
